Synopsis : A young man (Ivan) lives with his elegant, overprotective, and affectionate mother (Olga) in a castle. Every night, he dreams of flying with birds. One night, awakened by a noise, he discovers his mother plucking birds in a hidden aviary, her eyes turning red like a monster. Horrified, he flees.
Tension grows between them: he becomes distant and rejects her affection, which frustrates her. She grows increasingly aggressive, transforming into a giant monster. He runs through the castle, causing fires and destruction, until the collapsing roof. She reaches for him but slips, leaving him three feathers before falling. With them, he takes flight, finally soaring freely.
We wanted to show that we can transform our family legacy: here represented by the feathers, which Olga selfishly uses to enhance her own beauty, while her son Ivan uses them to achieve freedom and self-liberation.

For the colorscript ↓ I chose to begin with cold tones to reflect Olga’s emotional detachment and Ivan’s sadness, as he endures the oppressive atmosphere of the vast, empty castle they inhabit.
I also used warmer colours, such as red and magenta, to emphasise Olga’s control over Ivan. These shades appear in the flames, which I treated as a separate entity symbolising her influence.
In contrast, I introduced yellow to represent the birds, which symbolise Ivan’s longing for freedom. That’s why the sky turns entirely yellow during his transformation : a visual metaphor for liberation.
